Holography is a technique that enables a wave-front to be recorded and later reconstructed. Holography is best known as a method of generating three-dimensional images, but it also has a wide range of other applications, including non-destructive testing, security, data storage, laser processing, or new optical elements. In this talk, the basis of the holographic principles, and then the most commonly used optical setup to record and reconstruct holograms, a short review of the different recording materials, computer-generated holography, and recent advanced applications of digital holography are discussed.

Quang Duc Pham received the B. Eng. Degree in electronics engineering from University of Engineering and Technology – VNU, Hanoi, in 2006, the Master’s degree in Computer and Communication Engineering from Chungbuk National University, Korea, in 2008, and the Ph.D. degree in Innovation system (Optical information processing) at Utsunomiya National University, Japan, in 2013. From 2013 to 2018, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Optical Research and Education of Utsunomiya National University. From 2018 to 2020, he was manager of the Optical fiber research and development laboratory in the National Center for Technological Progress of the Ministry of Science and Technology. Dr. Quang is currently working as a lecturer at the University of Engineering and Technology – VNU Hanoi. His research interests include 3D imaging, optical metrology, optical sensing, and laser processing. He has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He has also been granted and contributed to two national Science Research Projects and two Ministry of Science and Technology
