Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh received a Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Kishinev University, Moldova (Former CCCP) in 1981; a Master’s degree in computer and information sciences from Toyohashi University of Technology, Japan in 1995; a Doctor’s degree in computer and information sciences from Osaka University, Japan in 1998. He received an honorary doctorate from Toyohashi University of Technology in 2001.
He used to work at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST, 1982-2006), at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST, 1998-2000), at the VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET, Vice Rector 2006-2009, Rector 2009-2014), at the VNU International Francophone Institute (VNU-IFI, Director 2014-2016), and at Hosei University, Japan (Visiting Professor, 2016-2019).
He was the Chairman of the Board of Policy and Engineering Consultation of the Vietnam Education and Research Network (VinaREN), was a co-representative of Vietnam in international ICT organizations such as APAN, ASEAN IVO. He was the President of Radio and Electronics Association of Vietnam (REV, 2014-2018).
Dr. Binh is now an Advisor to Hosei University and a member of the International Advisory Board of the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT), Japan.
He is a member of professional associations/societies such as IEICE (Japan), ACM / IEEE (United States), REV and VAIP (Vietnam). His research interests include hardware-software co-design in developing embedded systems; Electronic Design Automation (EDA); Embedded Software Engineering; Knowledge Science; Computer Network and Information Security.
Currently, Dr. Binh is Professor, Vice-President of the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI), Japan.
