On December 19th, 2023, VNU University of Engineering and Technology (VNU-UET) held the Opening Ceremony of the thesis defense for the first cohort of the joint Master’s Program with the Paris-Saclay University (France) in Communication and Data Engineering, in the 2022-2023 academic year.
On the side of VNU-UET, there were participations of Professor Chu Duc Trinh – the Rector of VNU-UET, Associate Professor Nguyen Phuong Thai – Head of Training Department, Dr Nguyen Ngoc An – Deputy Head of Department of Science and Technology and Collaboration, Associate Professor Nguyen Linh Trung – Director of the Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology and other lecturers of this program. In particular, the Opening Ceremony also featured online participation from representatives of the Paris-Saclay University, including Professor Pierre Duhamel – program advisor, lecturer, Professor Salah-Eddine El Ayoubi – CentraleSupelec, Paris-Saclay University, along with students attending this program.
In his opening speech, Professor Chu Duc Trinh expressed his gladness and acknowledgement for the efforts and research results of the students and lectures of the joint master’s program.
The principal emphasized that the academic year 2022 – 2023 marked the first cohort of the program, with the participation of students currently working at major technology corporations in Vietnam, such as: Viettel Group, Vietnam Posts and Telecommunication Group (VNPT), and FPT Corporation. At the moment, the students are doing the internship in France, Switzerland, and Vietnam at different institutions including Paris-Saclay University, Polytechnic Institute of Paris, Lausanne University and VNU-UET. Especially, these students have all received support in the form of scholarships, travel expenses, and accommodation from their institutions.
With the success of the first cohort, Professor Chu Duc Trinh sent his gratitude to the professors from Paris-Saclay University (France) in general and to Professor Pierre Duhamel in particular for the collaboration in teaching and co-guiding the students. He hopes that this success will pave the way for further cooperation between the VNU-UET and Paris-Saclay University (France) in education, exchange and research endeavors.
Professor Pierre Duhamel, the advisor of the master’s Program, expressed his happiness upon seeing the achievements after 1 year of hard work by the faculty members and students of both universities. Via the collaboration, both institutions have gained valuable experience in coordinating joint programs, laying the groundwork for future courses to help students expose their potential and seek new opportunities for self-development. Despite having only one year of research and study, the professor highly appreciates the quality and quantity of research reports submitted by the students. Additionally, he extends his gratitude to the Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology (AVITECH, VNU-UET), for successfully co-operating the joint master’s program in Communication and Data Engineering with Paris-Saclay University.
After enrolling in the master’s program in Communication and Data Engineering, all students have evaluated it as a program that can enrich their knowledge in various fields, especially providing opportunities for cultural exchange and experiencing life in developed countries. As a result, all students have gained additional motivation and determination to contribute to the scientific and technological development of Vietnam.
