Notably, the ceremony also featured the direct and online participation of representatives from Paris-Saclay University, including Professor Pierre Duhamel, program advisor and lecturer, and Associate Professor Franck Richecoeur – Head of the Graduate School Engineering and System Sciences.
During the opening speech, Associate Professor Nguyen Viet Ha extended congratulations to the first cohort of students enrolled in the Master’s program of Communication and Data Engineering in collaboration with Paris-Saclay University. Rector Nguyen Viet Ha highlighted the history of training cooperation with Paris-Sud University (predecessor of Paris-Saclay University) since 2006, initially coordinated by Professor Sylvie Retailleau from France, who later became the Director of Paris-Saclay University and is currently the Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of France. It can be said that the Master’s program in collaboration with Paris-Saclay University in Communication and Data Engineering is fortunate to inherit the cooperation from Paris-Sud University. Additionally, the Rector expressed gratitude to Professor Pierre Duhamel for his advisory role and leadership in the Connected Digital Intelligence Laboratory of the Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology, besides he gave lectures to the first cohort, as well as initiated research directions for the laboratory with its research team.
Finally, the Rector hoped that this program would serve as a bridge connecting Vietnamese enterprises with leading international universities, facilitating cooperation between the university and enterprises through training and research activities.
Representing Paris-Saclay University, Professor Franck Richecoeur, Head of the Graduate School Engineering and System Sciences, expressed delight at the collaboration between Paris-Saclay University and UET. Despite facing many challenges, this collaboration has been realized, allowing for exchanges between lecturers and students. The professor hopes that this program will provide students with access to in-depth scientific and technological knowledge, research opportunities in laboratories, as well as the chance to meet and work with international companies. He also wishes for this cooperation model to be extended to other programs, thereby enriching students’ experiences and aspirations for their future careers.
Representing the first cohort of the program, student Vu Duy Thanh expressed his honor and pride in becoming one of the first students enrolled in the Master’s program of Communication and Data Engineering in partnership with Paris-Saclay University. He stated that he chose this program because it is a collaboration between two top universities in technology, the VNU University of Engineering and Technology and Paris-Saclay University in France. Students will have the opportunity to work with top lecturers from both universities and gain access to advanced technological knowledge.
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, Professor Pierre Duhamel from Paris-Saclay University presented a report on “Evaluating the reliability of machine learning algorithms”
The Master’s program in Communication and Data Engineering has a standard training duration of 12 months. Students are required to accumulate 60 ECTS credits (according to the European system), including 40 credits for coursework and 20 credits for the master’s thesis. The program consists of 6 compulsory core courses, 2 elective specialized courses (out of 3), and 1 elective complementary course (out of 2).
The program is designed with three main components: communication, communication networks, and data (15 ECTS each) with equivalent credits. It also strikes a balance between scientific and technical theory and technological practice. Technological aspects include 4G and 5G telecommunications networks, IoT networks, IoT data analysis, and cybersecurity.
Graduates of the program will have deep knowledge and solid skills to excel in domestic and international environments demanding high technical and technological capabilities, such as chief engineers, project managers for research and development in fields like communication, communication networks, cybersecurity, data processing, and AI.
The program allocates 5% of the revenue from tuition fees to scholarships. Additionally, students have the opportunity to conduct their master’s thesis in France, funded by sponsoring partners. Moreover, students also have the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. at Paris-Saclay University or other reputable universities worldwide.
