    Business trip of Prof.Sebastiaan Engelborghs and Prof.Guy Nagels in Hanoi

    On 19-21 March 2024, Prof. Sebastiaan Engelborghs and Prof. Guy Nagels visited the Advanced Institute of Engineering and Technology (AVITECH), University of Engineering and Technology (UET-VNU), Hanoi, Vietnam. During this business trip, Professor Guy Nagels had discussions on cooperation topics with Professor Nguyen Linh Trung, Director of AVITECH, and his colleagues. Prof. Sebastiaan Engelborghs and Prof. Guy Nagels signed cooperation documents and participated in presenting at the International Workshop on Neurodegeneration and Artificial Intelligence jointly organized by University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP-VNU) and UET-VNU. The two professors also visited hospitals in Hanoi and had a meeting at the Belgium Embassy. Details of the business trip are as follows:

    1. Collaboration in federated learning between AVITECH and the Artificial Intelligence Supported Modeling in Clinical Sciences (AIMS): In 19 March, Prof. Guy Nagels and Prof. Nguyen Linh Trung discussed MOU signing, joint publications, student internships, and aiming for a research proposal in 2025 for the joint project in Natural Sciences and Engineering, co-funded by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) and the National Foundation for Science & Technology Development (NAFOSTED).

    Prof. Guy Nagels had some meetings to discuss joint publications and student internships with Prof. Nguyen Linh Trung, Dr. Dinh Tran Hiep, and some students in AVITECH

    2. In 20 March, Prof. Sebastiaan Engelborghs and Prof. Guy Nagels signed cooperation documents with Prof. Nguyen Linh Trung and had presentations at the International Workshop in Neurodegeneration and Artificial Intelligence jointly organized by University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMP-VNU) and UET-VNU: In the morning, the two Professors had discussions with representatives of AVITECH and UMP, after which the parties signed the MOU.

    At the beginning of the International Workshop on Neurodegeneration and Artificial Intelligence, Prof. Sebastiaan Engelborghs presented the Diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease in Belgium. Prof. Guy Nagels had a presentation about Federated learning in neurology. In this workshop, two professors had discussions with scientists from UMP-VNU and major hospitals in Hanoi

    3. Visit to major hospitals in Hanoi and meeting at the Belgium Embassy: In the morning, professors had a visit to major hospitals in Hanoi. Here, professors had discussions with Vietnamese doctors and toured hospital facilities. In the afternoon, the two professors had a meeting at the Belgium Embassy
