August 17, 2021: Dr. Pham Ngoc Thao (VNU Univ. Eng. Tech.), Piezoelectric Micromachinied UltrasonicTransducers (pMUTs) and Their Applications

Piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (MUTs) have a lot of advantages such as small size, lightweight, low power consumption compared to piezoelectric bulk ceramic transducers, and thus have been used in many applications such as ultrasonic imaging, rangefinder, fingerprint sensor and so on in recent years. These advantages make the pMUT suitable for consumer electronics with its huge market. Many research groups and companies have developed various pMUTs for enhancing the performances. The most important index of the performance is the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and high SNR is achieved by enhancing both transmitting and receiving performances of pMUTs. In this presentation, I will show my work in developing novel materials and designs for improved pMUT performances. Moreover, the outlook for the future development of pMUT technology and the potential applications made feasible by integrated PMUT devices are also presented.

February 2, 2024: Dr. Khoa D. Doan (Vin Univeristy) Toward Reliable and Practical Machine Learning Applications

While Machine Learning (ML) has rapidly transformed several domains and applications with incredible successes, there are also important areas where the progress is significantly slower. Specifically, there exists a widened complexity gap between the methods currently investigated in research and those used in practice in these areas. One reason is that many algorithms, despite achieving […]
