ABSTRACT:
Industry 4.0, known as the fourth industrial revolution, is a vision of smart factories developed based on intelligent cyber-physical systems. It greatly boosts the development of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies, which includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet-of-things (IoT) and cloud computing. These technologies immediately impact various sectors, such as manufacturing, healthcare, agriculture, transportation, finance. However, when connected to the cyber world, cybersecurity risks become a key concern due to open systems with IP addresses creating more avenues for cyberattacks. Security challenges specific to Industry 4.0 are due to the enormous complexity in managing information, increased connectivity, decentralized control and real-time decision of manufacturing systems. Conventional cybersecurity techniques are not enough to protect users from cyberattacks, requiring higher-level methodologies. In this study, we try to develop a cyberattack detection based on federated learning to analyze the network in different locations. In this way, not only the detection accuracy is improved, but our proposed system also can significantly reduce the information disclosure as well as network traffic in exchanging data among the IoT gateways.
