Quang Ha is currently an Associate Professor at the UTS School of Electrical and Data Engineering. He has had over 25 years of teaching experience at the tertiary education level. His research interests include automation & control, robotics, and construction automation.
Ha is internationally-recognised for his contribution to fuzzy sliding mode control and simultaneous state and input estimation with applications to electromechanical systems in robotics and smart structures. He was the Control Program Leader of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Autonomous Systems during 2003-2010. He is currently leading a research group for automation and control at UTS TechLab.
Ha has been CI for over 20+ research projects with 1 ARC DP, 3 ARC LP, and other competitive grants. His total research income has accrued to over $ 2.8 million. He has hosted visiting scholars, mentored ECRs and, as a Principal Supervisor, has trained till completion 18 PhDs and 5 Masters.
Ha has been on the Editorial Board of the IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering (2009-2013), Automation in Construction, Elsevier Heliyon, Journal of Advanced Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Informatics, and Mathematical Problems in Engineering.
Ha was the recipient of many research awards including the 2015 Sir George Julius Medal by Engineers Australia.
